Dipl.-Ing. Ernst Hammer〔In Austria an engineer's degree is called ''Diplom-Ingenieur'' (abbreviated ''Dipl.-Ing.'')〕 (20 October 1884 – 2 December 1957) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
